Terms and Conditions
Thank you for choosing Riverview Dog Grooming. Please take the time to read through the terms and conditions carefully which are listed below. You can also find these on my website at www.riverviewdoggrooming.co.uk. You will be required to sign these terms and conditions both digitally (except if you do not have an e-mail address or mobile phone number) and paper version before your very first appointment with me. Refusal to do so will result in an inability to book future appointments at Riverview Dog Grooming.
Please make sure you park on the drive way or at the local church St Bartholomew’s which provides free parking and is a 5 minute walk from the salon to prevent obstructing neighbouring properties. It is a criminal offence to block drive way entrances and you will be kindly asked to move your vehicle if you are obstructing a drive way entrance.
Please make sure your dog has relieved itself before the appointment. There are grass verges, a grass lane leading to some fields a 3 minute walk from the salon or the local park which is a 5 minute walk from the church if your dog needs to relieve itself. Please make sure you pick up after your dog and place it in our bin by the salon. I can provide plastic bags for you if needed. If they refuse to go before the appointment please tell me and I can take them around to my secure fenced off garden during their appointment to relieve themselves.
Text reminders will be sent out at 11:30am the day before your appointment is due.
If you fail to attend your booked appointment, a charge of 50% of the appointment will be incurred (e.g a full groom may be £30 so you would be required to pay £15 before your next visit). You will be required to pay the amount in full before you can attend your next booked appointment or before you can book another appointment. This can be done by a BACS (bank transfer), cash, card or cheque.
Please make sure you arrive on time for your appointment or let me know if you are running late. If you fail to do so and are 15+ minutes late, this will result in you losing your grooming appointment slot and you will be required to pay the no show fee as stated above if I am unable to fit you in on the same day.
Please make sure you collect your dog/s on time or let me know if you are running late. Due to limited space in the salon I cannot hold dogs indefinitely and ask you to collect at the agreed time. Failure to do so 15 minutes after the agreed time will result in a day care charge of £3 per 15 minutes on top of your grooming price (you will be exempt if there has been an emergency).
Please do not turn up during your dog’s appointment as this can distress them when you leave without them and can affect the quality of the haircut. Please be patient and wait until the agreed time or until I contact you to collect your dog. You can contact me on 07443 938451 if you need to get in contact during your dog’s appointment.
Please give as much notice as possible when you require an appointment. Available appointment slots are booked up very quick, most notably around Christmas, Easter and during hot weather. I do not reserve spaces so please make sure you can 100% be able to attend your chosen date and time confirmed with me. If there are no appointments available I will be more than happy to recommend some other local groomers for you who may have appointments available sooner. I will be more than happy to place you on my cancellation list if you are made to wait longer than usual for an appointment and you will be notified if a space becomes available.
Please note I do not offer a pick up and drop off service unless you are within walking distance of the salon. Please seek details from a pet taxi service if you require this service.
I have a very strict policy no persons under the age of 16 years are allowed onto the premises. This is for your child’s safety as some dogs in my care are not child friendly and can become spooked or aggressive around children.
If you haven't used Riverview Dog Grooming's services within 6 years since your last appointment with us then all records of both owner and dog will be deleted and destroyed, as required by the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). If you return to use the services after 6 years you will be required to fill out a new record form with both yours and your dog's details and will be required to sign this agreement again. All personal information including addresses and telephone numbers are kept strictly confidential.
If your dog has a medical issue, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, please make me aware of them upon booking or arrival of the appointment so necessary steps can be taken to make sure your dog is as comfortable and safe as possible in my care. Sometimes grooming can expose pre-existing health issues but under the Veterinary Surgeons Act I cannot diagnose a condition however I can advise you to seek veterinary attention. Riverview Dog Grooming will not take any responsibility for an existing health issues that have arisen due to the grooming process. If your dog has been vomiting or had diarrhoea within the past 24 hours before their appointment, please cancel as it is most likely to be infectious. Please wait until 72 hours have passed without a bout of vomiting and diarrhoea before rebooking your appointment.
If there have been issues involving your dog's health or you have seen a veterinarian inbetween appointments, I will require you to sign a health waiver stating you give me permission to groom your dog on this day. A health check will be carried out at the beginning of each appointment by myself. Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to clients whose dog I do not deem 100% fit and healthy to be groomed on the day and to clients who refuse to sign the health waiver. Always seek advice from your vet after visits for when grooming appointments can commence again.
Riverview Dog Grooming is a 1-1 salon however sometimes other dogs may still be having their haircuts finished off when you arrive or be waiting in a cage for their owners to collect them. If your dog has a history of aggression towards other dogs please make me aware upon booking or at the very first appointment so I can take necessary steps to prevent other dogs being in the salon at the same time as yours or to keep them in separate areas of the salon.
If your dog has a history of aggression during the grooming process, please make me aware upon booking the appointment. This will help me to take the necessary steps to prevent injury to myself and your dog. If your dog has behavioural issues towards the grooming process, I am happy to work through them with you. Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to a dog I deem a danger to myself. Under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and the Dogs Act 1871 I also reserve the right to use any aid to ensure my safety e.g. muzzle, grooming restraints etc. These will be used as a last resort. All feedback on behaviour will be discussed with you on collection and how we can persist and move forward to correct the behaviour. Please ask me before petting other dogs that may still be in my care when you arrive for your appointment.
If fleas are found on your dog during the grooming process, I will give them a flea bath in insecticidal shampoo and you will be notified ASAP. There will be an additional £10 charge on top of your normal grooming price to help cover costs of insecticidal shampoo, salon and equipment disinfectants and cleaning products to help prevent contamination. Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to clients who continue to arrive at appointments with fleas without taking action and will not be accepted back to the salon until the problem is resolved. Please speak to your veterinarian on suitable flea treatment.
If your dog’s coat is too matted to be saved, I will inform you upon arrival and during assessment of the coat that your dog will require a shave down on the shortest length necessary to remove the matting and allow the skin to breathe again. You will be required to sign a matted shave down waiver before any work can be carried out. Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to shave your dog to the necessary length required to remove all matting from your dog’s coat and reserves the right to refuse service to clients who refuse to sign the waiver. Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, I am unable to provide any dematting service due to the unnecessary suffering, discomfort and pain this would cause your dog which as stated under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 I must not cause. I will provide you with information on brushing techniques and tools on collection of your dog.
Under the advice of The Pet Industry Federation, I will not carry out teeth descaling and anal gland expression services as this can cause unnecessary suffering to your dog which I must not cause under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. If you require these services, please speak to your veterinarian.
Please note I do not accept bitches in season as they are more prone to picking up infections during this period. Seasons last an average of 3 weeks so please wait until after the 3rd and final week before you bring your bitch to be groomed. Although my salon is cleaned and disinfected daily there is always that chance of something nasty being picked up.
Please note I do not accept bitches that are currently whelping a litter. Once the puppies are 8 weeks of age then I will accept the bitch for grooming as she is less likely to pick up any infections or pass anything on to puppies.
Please note I will require your puppy to have had both sets of vaccinations before entering the salon. This is to make sure your puppy doesn’t pass on or pick up any infections in the salon. All dogs of all ages will need to be vaccinated or titre tested before entering the salon to prevent any infections being spread. You will be required to sign this on your signing in form on arrival at the salon. Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to any clients whose dogs aren’t vaccinated or titre tested.
Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse service to customers whose dogs may pose a threat to myself or other dogs in my care. This includes aggression, health problems, parasites and zoonotic infections or diseases.
Riverview Dog Grooming will not tolerate abusive and offensive language and behaviour and reserves the right to refuse service to customers who act in this way. Any behaviour I deem in this manner from customers towards myself and others at the premises will result in inability to book future appointments with me.
Riverview Dog Grooming will inform you immediately of any incident that occurs or any condition that I notice. Your pet’s welfare is my number one priority, and, in an emergency, I will inform your chosen vet and do my best to take your dog to your chosen vet where possible. Please ensure your emergency contact, veterinary, pet’s medical and health details are up to date. I am canine first aid trained and attend a refreshers course annually. I am also City and Guilds Level 2 and Open College Network Level 3 Diploma qualified. All certificates for qualifications are available to view in the salon and on my website.
Riverview Dog Grooming reserves the right to use any media taken by myself to use for advertising purposes including social media. You can opt out of this by marking your option on the signing in form on arrival. This includes but is not limited to photographs and videos.
All payments for Riverview Dog Grooming services must be paid in full by time of collection (cash, card or cheque). Any outstanding balance not paid within 24 hours of your previous appointment will result in the inability to book future appointments with me until the outstanding balance has been paid in the full amount.
